Walking to The EarthSave Office in Santa Cruz, I realized beef was mistakenly left in my burrito. "Oh no! They´ll smell it on me!"... John laughed warmly at my confession. What a welcoming crew he gathered. What an inspiration it was when he talked at the Masonic Temple in Madison, WI where the word Vegetarian didn´t yet appear on menus. With the door to door distribution of thousands of copies of "Realities", the word Vegetarian steadily became a common occurrence in Madison, WI. Many spinoffs came off that beef breathed meeting in Santa Cruz including a Vegetarian section to a keynote speech at The United Nations Environmental Programme annual meeting to 35 rallies in 35 cities asking fast-food restaurants to serve and advertise veggie burgers, later expanded by Beyond Beef leading to the Garden Burger on the Burger King Menu many years before The Impossible Burger launch. John inspired and changed so many lives. He´s in so many hearts in so many ways. Peace Be with John, his loved ones and many fans. ~Ricardo Jomarron

John has been a Large and Positive Influence in my life. To me, he knew the Real America -- Who We Really Are, The Spirit of 76, One
Extended Family of BROTHER-SISTERHOOD,
A Family that Includes All the Animals and
the Incredible Natural Word that Supports Us.
I have had a similar Health Struggle as John,
So I Empathize, And I Only Regret that Our
Destiny's didn't Allow for More of a Collaboration in Our Kindred Vision and
Hope for an Enlightened Future For All.

I just remember him and his son speaking on different sites and saw the respect they had for each other. That spoke loudly. A father/son bond like that is special

John, together with his son, Ocean, have inspired me to make healthier food choices and to begin moving toward a Whole Food Plant Based diet. His work for decades has heralded needed dietary changes, especially in the United States and among our expanding over-weight youth.
He will be sorely missed, as I always enjoyed his studied insights and the robust and informative conversations between Ocean and him and how they promoted a healthier nutritional lifestyle for all of us. I joined their Whole Life Club several years ago to stay in touch with the work of this great man and his son.
Thank you, John, for pioneering these needed changes in our country, in the world.

I am very sorry to learn about his death - just now.
I am a reader of his book "Healthy at 100 " which has considerably influenced my knowledge and attitude about foods.
It is sad that he didn't live to be 100!
I wish his family and friends my heartfelt sympathy.
May they get the courage to continue his legacy.

Ocean and family, my heart goes out to you as you mourn, as well as celebrate the life of your father, grandfather, and brother. I never met your father but it was one of the wishes of my life that I might. His path to healthy living inspires me every day since I found the food revolution back in 2012. I have watched the series every year since it began. It keeps me grounded and inspired to keep on this path. I have no support network, except for what you, Ocean and your father have so generously given me, a person you don't even know. I have shed tears for your loss, as well as the world's loss of a great, and good man. I often think of his prayer as a guide for my life, "May all be fed. May all be healed. May all be loved." I am privileged to have these words etched in my mind. Thank you for inheriting your father's goodness, Ocean. What a privilege to have known and been raised by him. May you be healed in your time of sadness. --Jenny Lowe, Springville, Utah

I am so sorry to learn today that John had passed away this year. I first learned of him when I was first diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I was really scared and worried that I would die like my Father. I learned how to eat healthier through his different presentations and after 7 years of going plant based eating, I am much healthier that before. Thank You John and Ocean for getting me away from the Standard American Diet.

In 1985 my husband and I moved to a small farm in south central Colorado. We found the book Diet for a New America. It changed our lives and the lives of our children. Still 40 years later we remain vegan. John will always be our hero and he has helped us remain free from obesity and our bodies remain healthy even at the age of 74 and 70. We take absolutely no medications. I´m so sorry to hear about John´s passing. It is so wonderful that his son Ocean will carry on John´s mission and message. May he rest in peace
