I only knew John in his late years but he was a true inspiration. John was gentle and kind, we will miss him terribly. May he rest in peace.

John Sandeman was a tremendous inspiration to many who worked in the areas of hypersonics and laser spectroscopy, including myself. He made a great contribution to Australian Science. May he rest in peace.

As a founding member of the group that established Hypersonics in Australia, those of us now in the field owe an ongoing debt of gratitude to the pioneering work John and his colleagues did in blazing the trail.
His support and encouragement and willingness to share his ideas (and his equipment, which I regularly used to break!) were inspirational.
