To Betty and the Savinski Family: my wife Diana gave me a surprise birthday gift (this past October), a flight from Phoenix to Pittsburgh to visit family and friends. I found Jacks gravestone at Sacred Heart Cemetery and then made a visit to Scott Ave., where we both grew-up to see his mother. What great memories we had together as kids from Jeannette. Enjoy the peaceful rest my friend.

Jack my good friend from Sacred Heart to Jeannette Jr High, together we grew up on Scott Ave and had the best times in Boy Scouts with Bill Dunn and Fr Julian Smith. Loved your visit to Phoenix, AZ (1982) and we especially had a great time when our family stayed with yours in PA (1990). We were both educators, you in Music and me in Physical Science and loved ours jobs every day of the year. May you Rest In Peace, know you were loved and very much appreciated by all that you helped.

Our deepest condolences to the Savinski family. John was one of my first music teachers, he's a huge reason why I became a professional & have my career today. He was always so patient & passionate about music & was always funny, dedicated & just a great person. His positivity & drive affected my life to this day... thank you Mr. Savinski! My thoughts and prayers are with the Savinski family. Mr. Savinski was my music teacher and band director in junior high school and my assistant band director in high school. He was a great teacher and a great person. I am so sad to hear of his passing, too soon. I'll never forget the joy he brought to my life. I'll always remember him with a smile.

Uncle Jack, Never really had the chance to say thank you for everything growing up, he helped me get my first clarinet in grade school, I almost knocked my eye out, taking it apart, my wedding day, taping the video of the whole day, precious to me, if not for him I wouldn't have that, & stepping in when my dad died to support my son Christopher watching him in many tournaments on the golf course many times, rest with Jesus, & give my Dad & Mom a kiss for me, we love all of you so much

Thank you Uncle Jack for all of your support and love. Aunt Betty, I am here for you in prayer and support. Lean on the Saviour, for in Him dwells comfort and peace in this time of loss.

I met Jack back in the early 60's thru friends, and he became a member of our Gang. We are all still together as friends, and I know we will miss him deeply. I will always remember his big smile and his kind words. Rest peacefully Jack. You can now become a member of God's Heavenly Band.

Mr. Savinski held a special place in my heart as a wonderful band director. He was my teacher at Mendon and later in high school with the marching band and the winter color guard (1973-1977) He helped me find musical instruments for my daughter Victoria, and also taught her in grade school. His love for music was contagious. He will surely be missed by all who ever knew him. The family has our deepest sympathy. Terri Heath Day

I just want to say I am going to miss my friend and neighbor of 30 years.He would always be there for us when we needed a hand,and we returned the favor many times.He was also a great teacher for my children.We spent many birthdays and other occasions together,but most of all we will never forget our little Christmas eve ritual lighting all those luminaries along the driveway.Followed by the toast for the holiday.We love you.Thanks for the memories

Mr. Savinski was a wonderful teacher. He encouraged me to play French horn in fifth grade. Little did I know, it would become my major instrument in college. His legacy lives on every day when I stand in front of my music classes and teach. Sending thoughts and prayers to your family.

John was such an inspiration to a countless number of young musicians! I first met John when I was in the 11th grade and he was the assistant band director at Yough. Always took time to say hello every time I saw him marching in a parade. So many good memories of a kind next door neighbor when I was growing up. Always respected him and as adults he would say please call me John, but I just couldn't do it, he was always Mr Savinski. My deepest sympathy to the savinski family.

Uncle Jack was an amazing man. He was smiling and joking in every memory we have of him. Mama and I hate that we can't be there but were praying everyday for some kind of peace for you all. We love you and miss you and can't wait to see you again.

Many prayers for the Savinski family. Hoping that knowing what an amazing influence he was on so many helps comfort you in this difficult time. I had the pleasure of running into him at Point Pleasant just a few months back and his smile was as contagious that day as it was when he was my band teacher 30 years ago.

Always known as Mr. Savinski to me, he was one of my favorite and most memorable teachers. He had a knack of seeing potential and bringing out the best in people. He was a friend of the family and a friend to many. I feel like part of my youth has been taken away. Prayers and wishes go out to his family during this difficult time.

Deepest Sympathy to the Savinski Family. I, too, started playing Clarinet in the fourth grade at Barren Run Elementary. He was a kind hearted man, well respected and wore a bright smile. We don't run across many people like Mr. Savinski. He will surely shine, as a stand-out performer, . . .when the Saints Go Marching in.

I remember when I went from being called Mary Ellen at Mendon to Mary in Jr. High, he still always called me Mary Ellen. RIP Doc and thanks for all the fond memories.

John was an excellent teacher and a good friend to all his colleagues at Yough.We spent many lunch duties together. Always a big smile and ready to help! He is in the heavenly band now.

I played in the clarinet section with Jack in the Jeanette Community Band for the last 4 years. He always did a great job and we all could tell his commitment to music and the community. So true, his smile was contagious. He will be greatly missed.
