John was in M-! company at West Point. Although I was in L-1 company next door, he and I had many occasions to be together for various functions. He went Air Force and I went Army, so our paths never crossed again following graduation in 1953. Regardless, I have many pleasant memories of John Schuessler during our four years together as cadets. I remember John as a very happy, outgoing guy who would undoubtedly have us celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. God Bless him and his whole family.

I was deeply saddened to learn of John's passing. He and I were close friends for many years, starting at Marion Institute in 1948. Next we were together at West Point, and then off and on in the Air Force for a number of years. While we were still in school my parents were stationed in Germany and John's parents literally took me in. I will never forget the wonderful house parties they threw for us at their home on the Gulf Coast during our summer leaves from the Point. I will really miss him. My sincerest condolences to his family in this difficult time. Herm Gilster

From Madelon Murfee David: Mac, Lila, Suzanne, Wes, I was so sorry to hear about John. Mary McQueen (Queenie) Porter just let us know. We had seen John in Prattville at the last two family reunions. That's been many years ago. Deepest sympathy to all of you. Madelon & Don David

Wes, Suzanna, Lila: Sam Butner a long time friend from Montgomery and your Mom's cousin let me know today that your Dad died last moth. Jerry and I are so sorry -- John lived a great life and although we haven't seen each other in recent years, hardly a day goes by that the years we roomed together don't come to mind. He is no longer in any discomfort and is at peace joined with your Mom awaiting the the final roll call of the Class of 1953 on the Plain at West Point. God Bless. Our deepest sympathies are with you all. Art & Jerry Brown
