John D. Schultz

October 31, 1955 - June 22, 2025

John D. Schultz, age 69, of Fremont, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 31, 1955, John grew up in Menasha. He was known for his famously terrible (and wonderfully fun) dad jokes, his deep love of music, and his talent for nature photography.

John was a hardworking and dedicated man, loyal to his career at Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, where he worked for over 50 years. Even after officially retiring, he returned to Pierce through a temp agency and continued working until his diagnosis in May.

He found joy in camping trips and concerts with his good friends Mark and Ken, and was a devoted member of Calvary Chapel in Waupaca-his church family meant the world to him. John was a true homebody who loved his barn, grilling and smoking meat (always learning and experimenting to perfect it for next time), playing frisbee golf, feeding the birds, motorcycling with his kids (he taught everyone how to ride), putzing around the yard, and relaxing outside-always welcoming anyone to join him.

A nomad at heart, John loved camping-even solo-and embraced the peacefulness and calm of the outdoors. Thanks to his father, he was a gun enthusiast, but as he aged, it wasn't about the thrill-it was about appreciating nature and the company he was with. One beloved family memory is of John wiping out on his motorcycle to avoid hitting a toad in the road-classic John.

He is survived by his children, Ben (Jessica) Schultz, Emily (Chad) Kolasinski, and Phil (Kristen) Schultz; and his cherished grandchildren, Riley, Aiden, Jack, Shelby, Clayton, and Lincoln. He is also survived by his mother, Pauline Schultz, his sister Deborah (Dale) Sievert, along with many extended family members, close friends, and his beloved church family.

John was preceded in death by his father, Duane Schultz.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, at Calvary Chapel of Waupaca. There will not be a formal receiving line. All family, friends, and those who considered John family are invited to continue the celebration of his life at Rose Hill Bar in Little Chute from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's honor can be made to Calvary Chapel.
