John S. Schwartz, Jr.

83 years of age and resident of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 18, 2024. He was born on November 17, 1941 at his parents John Stephen Schwartz Sr and Theresa Graf's farm in Laurys Slatington.

He is survived by his younger brothers James "Jim" (married to Ellen) and Ronald "Ronnie"; sons John 3rd (married to Heather) Kevin (married to Jen) and Mark; along with grandchildren Brandon, Olivia, Emily and Ella.

John played baseball at Parkland High School and went on to work at Bonnie Forge. He later joined Mack Trucks where he spent the rest of his career sourcing truck parts. After retiring in 2000 he became a Mack Truck consultant and ambassador giving tours of the Macungie production plant.

He was predeceased by his wife Jean A. (Tobitsch) Schwartz of 50 plus years. They loved to travel and went to Hawaii, throughout the Caribbean and most of all to Florida to see Jean's beloved Disney.

John was a devoted father and never missed his sons' events. He coached their teams and served as President of the Saint Elizabeth Youth Association for two decades. He was a loyal member of the community and never hesitated to help friends, neighbors, and family. He was also a devoted sports fan, cheering for Penn State, Villanova, Phillies, Iron Pigs, Eagles, and all things NASCAR. Kyle Larson was his favorite driver.

My condolences, John, Kevin, Mark, and families. Your father was a joy, to be with. My earliest memories, are when I attended, your parent´s wedding. I was about 12, at the time. I caught the bouquet.
I, also, remember, staying over at their apartment, in Elmont, NY, as a young girl.
I loved to visit, Jean and John, at their beautiful townhouse, in Whitehall. So good, to catch up, on our families, when we visited.
More recently, I had been, going out, to the Dunderbak restaurant, with John, when I was, in Allentown, and he was available. Such nice times, together. John caught me up, on how, each of you boys, was doing.
I´m confident, John, is with Jean, in their heavenly home, with God. May perpetual light shine upon, them, and may they rest, in peace.

To family, we are very sorry for your loss. I remember John driving his brother, friend, and me, his cousin, to Parkland sports games. I also remember playing basketball with John's work team on occasion and also remember all the sharing of farm activities next door. We will miss him but he will now be with his wife who he adored. Brother John and I had many fond memories growing up on the farm. We had a close knit family. We both worked at Bonnie Forge and Mack Truck. We liked playing baseball and watching the Allentown Jets on Saturday nights at Rockne Hall. Will miss the texting. Rest in peace John. Brother Jim

So sorry to hear of John's passing. We worked in the same area at Mack for many years, in both World Headquarters and Macungie. He spoke often about his family and his Jean, and how much they enjoyed their many trips. We shared a love of music and songs. John was always happy, kind and caring ~ a great guy.
My sincere condolences to his family.

The first time I met John he came to our house in Franklin Square, NY at 7 am on a Saturday morning (circa 1961/2) to date my sister, Jean. He was traveling from the Allentown, PA vicinity, which in those days was a 3 or more hour car trip. It was the first of many such weekend trips. I was amazed how prompt he was, always ringing our doorbell at precisely 7 am, especially since it was a multi hour car trip including going through or around NYC, which always has traffic. It was years later that I found out he left home with at least an hour buffer and would park around the corner until a couple of minutes before 7 am so he could ring the bell precisely at 7 am. That means he left his home approximately 3 am and this happened many weekends over the next few years. The dedication of true love!!! For those that don't know, Jean & John were happily married for more than 5 decades, until she left us in the very beginning hours of 2018. Be well my friend, wherever you are, and hopefully you have reunited with Jean.

Jimmy, Ronnie and family - so very sorry to hear about John but you can take comfort knowing he is no longer in pain and is with his beloved Jean. He fought the good fight for sure. I remember the family reunions and many breakfasts we shared. Rest easy Cousin John.
