John Edward Simmonds, 73, of Buford, GA, passed away on November 20, 2023. He was born on September 9, 1950, in Auburn, NY. John was a devoted husband to Peg for 49 years, loving father to Eric, and an amazing friend to many. His humor and generosity were legendary, and his impact was felt worldwide. Those who knew him grieve his loss, and he will live forever in our memories.

John is survived by his wife, Peg Simmonds; his son, Eric Simmonds, and daughter-in-law, Pam Roller; his brother, Fran Simmonds; his sisters, Judy (Ron) French and Dorie Simmonds; his nephew, David French; his niece, Lisa (Sam) Hanna; his nephew, Fran (Kristin) Simmonds; and his niece, Kristan (Jon) Kight. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Simmonds, his father, Francis Simmonds, and his sister-in-law Christine Simmonds.

In his educational journey, John attended Herman Ave Elementary School and Auburn East High School. He further pursued higher education at Auburn Community College and SUNY Oswego.

Throughout his career, John worked for LMS Engineering from 1974 to 1978 in Oswego, NY. Next was Birdseye/Dean Foods from 1978 to 2000 in Fulton, NY and Green Bay, WI. Then he worked for Coca-Cola from 2000 to 2013 in Atlanta, GA. He was an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and had the opportunity to travel throughout the country and worldwide.

Outside of work, John had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He loved sailing, downhill and cross-country skiing, and grilling on his Big Green Egg.

John Simmonds was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family would encourage you to donate to the American Diabetes Association. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
