JOHN (JACK) E. SINCLAIR

1936 - 2015

Passed away peacefully on December 12, 2015 at Sunrise Senior Living of Oakville, Ontario where the staff treated him with love and compassion.

Beloved husband and best friend for over 56 years of Patricia (Trish) Sinclair. Loving father to Andrew (Julie), Scott (Amanda) and Mark (Rita).  Proud grandfather of Sean and Sarah (Tim).

Born in Hamilton in 1936, he graduated from McMaster in 1958 with a BA (Comm) and received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from McMaster in 1991. Over the years, he and Trish lived in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Shelburne and Oakville.

Jack joined Bell Canada fresh out of school in 1958. He worked in a variety of rolls at Bell and BCE, retiring as Executive Vice President in 1992.

He volunteered extensively before and after retirement. Selected activities include, Chairman of the School Board (Candiac, Quebec), Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Chair of MS Canada, Board of Governors of University of Waterloo,  President and International Commissioner (and Silver Wolf) Scouts Canada,  Chair of the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army, Board of Directors of Maritime Telephone and Telegraph, Board of Directors Bell Northern Research, Board of Directors International Telecommunications Discovery Centre, Founding Board of Skydome Corporation, Board Member Pro-Action,  Board Member Concerned Kids and Board Member Canadian Council for Native Business.  And he really enjoyed his time with the Rotary Club in Shelburne, Ontario.

He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. His passing is a great loss to all who knew him.

Jack loved life and loved being with people. He was always a focal point in every get together and party.  His wish was to have one more party to celebrate his life, so his family would like to extend an invitation to all to a "Celebration of His Life" at the Holiday Inn Oakville Centre, 590 Argus Road, Oakville (250 metres north of the Oakville GO Train station) from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Parkinson Society Canada or the Kerr Street Mission (Oakville).

I didn't know Jack as well as some of the others posting condolences here but on the few occasions I did meet him I found him warm and approachable. He was a class act indeed.

Dear Sinclair Family,

Jack Sinclair took a bunch of wide eyed new Bell managers in the 80's and made us better people . I will always remember Him with fondness and good memories. What a Cherished Man .

There have been a couple of people in this world that I have met and will NEVER forget. Jack was one of them. The most understanding, interesting, smart and generous person that I had the pleasure to meet on quite a few occasions. The world has lost a very wonderful individual. He will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.

Sinclair family,

I have wonderful memories of visiting Scott and Andy at the Sinclair house in Etobicoke and having many interesting and insightful discussions with Mr. Sinclair. He was a patient and good listener and always had interesting insights. He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word.
