I met John when my oldest son, Keith Girdner, joined the Boy Scouts. He was a great leader, mentor to the boys and a friend. He was always patient and helpful with his scouts. I´m sorry to hear of his passing.

I figured since there is a Slizewski star. There should be a tree for it to shine down on. Thinking of you during this hard time. Much prayers and thoughts. Melissa and Mason

It saddens me to hear that you have passed away. Growing up I don´t think we showed enough respect for you and how much of your time, money, love and friendship you gave to us all as a Boy Scout leader. As I became older and tried to help out with my sons scouts I realized that you made this Look easy. The Charlie Brown patrol and troop 60 will always live on in our hearts and minds. Thank you John for everything you have done for Me and the family the earth really lost a great man.

We spent 20 years together in scouting. With John, we always knew that no matter what went wrong, we would always be able to figure it out, and make things work. Most important of all was to make it fun. He was a great leader of young men, and had an impact on so many others. I will always treasure our times together. John will be greatly missed.

My acquaintance with John will always remain in my thoughts as one of my most admired acquaintances. I consider it an honor to have been a participant in scouting with him. His tireless enthusiasm for scouting will also remain strong in the memories of many young men through their involvements. He will be deeply missed but always remembered!
