John Randolph Smelser was born August 7, 1955 in Baltimore, MD to the late Willie Leon Smelser, Sr. and Lottie Byrd Moore Smelser and is a lifetime resident of northern Anne Arundel County. He enjoyed a 32 year career in the maintenance dept. of First National Bank (now M&T) where he worked alongside of his father and brothers. A man of great faith, he was an active member of Abundant Life Church where he was active in hospital and prison ministry and served on a missions trip to Honduras where he helped to build a church. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, his boats and riding his Harley. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Bambi Gayl Krall Smelser, son Adam David Smelser and his wife Dyan of Belair, daughter Tina Marie Smelser of Gettysburg, PA, brothers Roy and Willie L. Smelser, Jr., both of PA, sister Joyce Ann Dennis of Glen Burnie as well as two cherished grandchildren Brianna and Christian Smelser. He passed away peacefully at the Gilchrist Hospice surrounded by his family.

I have such fond memories of John, his father and brothers. So many times during my 40 year career, I was saved by this group of magicians. They could solve any problem, fix anything and always with a good sense of humor about the issue at hand. They were always there when you needed them. It was such a pleasure to watch them work, and I always took their advice on what was needed in the branches I supported.

Grief is so hard, but holding and sharing special memories really can help us cope some. Sending to all of my Cousins; Bambi, Tina, Adam, and all of the rest of Johns closest Family Memebers, Our Love and Our Prayers. John was always friendly and had a good sense of humor. Remember him lending me his VHS camcorder. He also recorded our wedding in 1991. God bless Bambi and family.

John and I shared an office at the old M&T warehouse in Hollins Ferry. His desk was across from mine. Although we weren't very close off the job, Jon and I would swap jokes and stories across the room every morning. John was fun to be around and his stories about his brothers were always hilarious. Its been quite some time since I last saw John. I periodically have thought about the memories of him in the time that has passed by.
So long my friend. May Jesus accept your soul with waiting arms.
