John Smickenbecker

John H. Smickenbecker, IV, 45 of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away suddenly on December 17, 2024. Born on June 9, 1979, in New Brunswick, NJ to John H Smickenbecker, III and Marcella Lee Collins.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his cherished daughter, Isabella Eva Mae Smickenbecker, age 7, his former wife, Heidi Buck, and his stepmother, Mary Kazmierczak Smickenbecker.

John grew up in Milltown, NJ and was a graduate of Spotswood High School. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus in marketing from DeVry University. John's career highlight was working in various roles at A&M Industrial located in Linden, NJ, last serving as an industrial branch and sales manager.

Beyond his professional life, John was an avid and accomplished fisherman - both fresh and saltwater. He was also a gamer, playing in many tournaments.

If he could, John would listen to WFAN 24/7 and was a die-hard Jets and Yankees fan. He was a charmer and a talker. John had a soft spot and respect for older people, both strangers and relatives. He had a very special relationship with his grandmother Eva Smickenbecker.

The highlight of his life was Isabella. He cherished his time with her and wanted to pass along his passion for fishing to her on his dad's boat in Ocean City, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family on May 31, 2025, at 10:15 AM followed by an 11:00 AM mass at St. Damien Parish/St. Frances Cabrini Church 114 Atlantic Ave., Ocean City, NJ 08226.
