STACK, John Albert

With great sadness but countless wonderful memories, we say goodbye to our loving husband, father, brother, uncle and Poppy. John Stack died quietly with his wife and two sons by his side following a brief illness. Besides Pat, his wife of fifty-three years, John is survived by his sons, Dave and his wife Jen, and Todd and his wife Sandra; his grandchildren, Megan, Tyler, Samantha and Andrew; his brother Charlie; and his sisters, Sheila and Barbara and numerous extended family and friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Phyllis; and by his brothers, Cliff and Doug. Family was incredibly important to John and he loved times spent with his siblings and their families, his cousins, and extended family members whom he dearly loved and made so many great memories with. His greatest source of joy and pride was sharing in the adventures and accomplishments of his boys and his grandchildren - he was a special father and grandfather with a perpetual twinkle in his eye and endless energy, enthusiasm and patience. John and Pat's passion for travel, nature, and all outdoor pursuits carried them on countless tours and camping trips around North America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Words he lived by: "Don't count the days; make the days count" - and he sure did!
A Celebration of John's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends or family so desire donations may be made to a charity of your choice in John's name. We thank the incredible doctors and nursing staff of Units 44 and 39 at the Peter Lougheed Centre for all their compassion and help over the last few weeks. In living memory of John Stack, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
