I am saddened we lost John. Not only was he my boss, but he was a good friend I could rely on. Wherever John is in the next life, he has others lined up, organized, and moving forward. So long John. We will see each other again some day.

John had a zest for life that was admirable. We met through his relationships with Dr. Tom Haggai and the Wetterau family. His friendship was valued.

John was a true friend to us as a retailer! He was very gracious to our family retail business.

My dad was not only a great businessman-he was also a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. To me, he was my hero.

We had so much in common-our sense of humor, the way we thought, and even the way we spoke. We were always finishing each other´s sentences. As a child, I followed him everywhere, especially when he was working in the yard. He´d take the time to show me what he was doing, teaching me along the way.

Some of my fondest memories were our Sunday drives to Fleming´s. About a mile before we arrived, he´d always pull over, put me on his lap, and let me drive the rest of the way. At the warehouse, I´d ride the carts around while he worked, and he´d always take me into the candy room and let me choose my favorite treats.

Dad taught me how to ride a bike l, ski, and how to ride a motorcycle-and of course, how to change a tire, just in case I ever broke down. He wanted me to be prepared for anything.

Every year, he took me to the City of Hope conventions, and we had a blast. One year, after the event, we even crashed a frat party and danced the night away-just the two of us, surrounded by college students. It´s one of my favorite memories.

Another unforgettable time was when he took me to Paris for New Year´s Eve. We danced, we laughed, we ate amazing food-it was pure joy. My dad always loved to dance.

Even as we grew older and lived in different states, we always found time for each other. Every visit included our private conversations, where we reconnected and slipped right back into that beautiful father-daughter rhythm. He brought me back to my childhood, every time.

Dad was my biggest supporter. Even when I was a wild child, he loved me without judgment, unconditionally.

Many people knew him as a fierce businessman-but to me, and to those who truly knew him, he was a gentle, loving man. Drama-free, content with his family and his animals, happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.

He was one of a kind-and I was lucky enough to call him my dad.

The best grandpa to ever live! Truly one of a kind and unlike anyone I´ve ever met. He´s now my forever guardian angel and the person I strive to be half of one day. I love you grandpa. I miss you, but I feel your presence through me everyday. Til we meet again.
