Thank you John for the smiles and laughter and music. We know you are now part of the great cloud of witnesses still present non-physically surrounding us with more love and clarity and joy than ever. We are appreciating you ever more. Thanks again! J. R. "Randy" Hofheins

Dear Joan and Randy,

I am deeply saddened at a loss of a great friend, musician and theologian. We would talk for hours about music and theology. My children always referred to John as "Mom's special friend." John was special to me and to all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him. I will cherish his memory and hope that he saves a place for me in Heaven when it's my time. For now, I will remember all the Masses we sang and played together over the years.

God's peace and comfort to you,

Elizabeth

We will all miss this gifted and talented scholar. I will miss my best friend and trusted confidant. It will be difficult without him.
Heartfelt sympathy is extended to his family.

John was a gifted musician, who tirelessly shared his talent with two remote congregations. He enriched our worship services by faithfully holding choir practices and helping the small numbers at St. Mary's achieve great things. In addition he had a wicked sense of humor, which I always enjoyed.
He touched so many lives and will be truly missed by those who knew him.
May John's family be comforted by their memories of happy times and through the grace of our heavenly Father be given strength and courage at this time of sadness and loss.
