TAYLOR, John Leonard
John Leonard Taylor, PhD (History), born in Toronto in 1928, died peacefully at Ottawa, November 13, 2012. Loving husband of Jane Taylor, and father of Marianne Dietrich (Brett) and grandfather to Gabriel, Grace, and Edward. Also, holding a special spot in John's heart are Lisa Daniels and her children Nate and Shantel Alexander, whom John fondly regarded as his adopted grandchildren. John had a varied career and many interests but specialized in Canadian history as relating to First Nations' issues. He was a long-time member of the Anglican Church, particularly St. Matthias and St. Barnabas of Ottawa, and St. Pancras Old Church, London, England. A man of deep convictions and a gentleman to the end, John will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Thank you to Dr. Cross and her team at the Hospice at May Court. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Sunday, November 18th from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Matthias Anglican Church, 555 Parkdale Avenue (at the Queensway) on Monday, November 19th, at 11:00 a.m. Donations to St. Matthias Church or the Hospice at May Court.
