JOHN TKACS Obituary
On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, John W. Tkacs, of North Braddock, went peacefully home. He was born December 30, 1923 in McKean County, PA, the son of the late John W. and Sue Mitchko Tkacs. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann M. Ragancsik Tkacs, and the loving father of Dennis P. (Cheryl) of Greensburg, Maryann (Leon) Szwedko of O'Hara Township, and John J. (Rachel) of Monroeville, and two granddaughters, Lydia and Meredith Tkacs. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army, and served in the European Theater of Operations. He thoroughly enjoyed his job as a motor inspector for United States Steel, and he liked to work in his garden. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame fan. Calling hours with the family will be on Friday, April 15, 2011, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the SCHLEIFER FUNERAL CHAPEL, INC., (412-271-1361) formerly the Ronald V. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 534 Jones Avenue at Bell Avenue, North Braddock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Miroslaus J. Wojcicki, in Holy Cross Parish, Saint Helen Worship Site on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Braddock Hills. The family wishes to thank the staff of Harmar Village for the excellent care provided.
