Dear Andrew,

My condolences on losing your brother Mike. We all went to St. George's School together, my brother, Derek, was in your class. Then we met up again at the Veteran's Hospital when your mother and my father were resident there. Derek passed away last year, sadly, so I know it is tough to lose your brother. Again, my condolences on your loss.

I first met Mike 8 years ago. He was great guy and a hard worker, and it was not often he would not be working at his shop on Saturdays and Sundays. It was an honour to have Mike as a friend.

Thanks to Andrew, Keith and Debbie for their devoted care for Mike, and thanks to the staff of West Island Palliative Care Residence..

Mike, Rest in peace my friend,

Mike, My Buddy and friend I will miss you terribly. I had the pleasure to meet Mike in 2001 taking care of his Mom at the Veterans Hospital untill 2008. It became a close friendship that I will miss. I used to look forward to his visits at our house on Sundays after he left his Mom and playing the guitar on our deck, However dinners were hard as he was vegetarian!! I was happy to be there for Mike when his Mom died and he stayed overnite at our house as he did not want to go home.I am very happy I was there for him in his last months. However he complained about me snoring!! Ha Ha!! I think he was more worried about me. Typical Mike. I was so happy I spent the day before with him and the next day with Deb and Keith untill he went to his last post. I thank Deb and Keith for all there care for Mike and always keeping me informed. I thank Andrew for being such a devoted Brother and Carol for being there in his final days. I will miss his visits and calls!! Rest in peace Mike you are with your Dad and Mom and your Bro David!!

i am one of Mike's cousin's, though he is the exact age of my older sister heather, while i am the exact age of his youngest brother andrew. I always thought it was interesting that my dad's brothers had children the exact same year - it was very poetic to me, and a testament to their closeness as brothers. Mike - who will always be Michael to me, was always a magical spirit - always a little aloof, a small smile on his lips watching the rest of the world with a knowing secret. On one of my visits to montreal he played guitar for me and we sang beatles songs. That was one of the things he and heather had in common - a musical ability that came very naturally (i guess so in that family!). He was humble and independent and a bit of an enigma, which always made him special to us when we saw him. And so he will remain, with grace in the hearts of everyone.
