John Turner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 12 to Feb. 13, 2010.
TURNER, John Henry ("Jack") In loving memory of our wonderful and devoted husband and father, the family of Jack Turner announces his passing on Thursday, the 11th day of February 2010, just two weeks short of his 89th birthday. Always a kind and good friend, Jack served his community and his country as a proud member of the R.C.M.P., the Army (Korea) and the R.C.A.F. He fostered in each of us who knew and loved him a deep appreciation for music, empathy for those who suffered, a sincere affection for animals, a great sense of humour and the confidence that can only come from knowing you are loved unconditionally. While his physical presence will be sadly missed, these gifts he gave so freely will continue to enrich our lives. With all our love, from your sweetheart of 64 years, Elizabeth Mary (Roberts), your sons Steven (Louise Champoux), Matthew (Linda Lafleche) and Peter (Ashley Parsons), your daughters Katherine Blake (Jim), Gwyneth Mary (Steven Lovas) and Elizabeth Welch (Wayne), your grandchildren Dylan and Phillip Turner, Matthew and Evan Blake, Alexandra Hammond, Edward Jurewicz, Sarah Turner, Genevieve Rioux and Eric Lovas, and your great grandchildren Charlotte, Victoria, Aaron, Jack, Libby and Christopher. Sincere thanks to the staff of the 7th floor neurology wing of the Civic Hospital. Friends are welcome to visit at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue, Barrhaven, on Sunday, February 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held Monday, February 15, 2010 at St. Maurice Church, 4 Perry St., at 11:00 a.m. In Memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.

Marilyn & I recall with fondest memories our tour with you in Metz & the many happy evenings on which we exchanged visits. I in particular remember the drubbings I took over the Chess Board as Jack "taught" me the moves.
He was definitely a man to be loved by all who new him, a fine Officer & good friend.
