John Michael Varga, 89, of Bayville, New York, and Plantation, Florida, passed on November 9, 2022, of natural causes with his beloved wife, Theresa Lucille, at his side.

John was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 17th, 1933 to Mary Puhi and Michael Varga. As a child, he was an altar boy at St. Elias church on Kent street in Brooklyn, NY, and would often tell the story of how he was privileged to have washed the car of then Archbishop Fulton Sheen. John was a devout Catholic throughout his life. He was a musician, playing trumpet and piano after graduating high school while holding a record of perfect attendance. In his twenties, he was a band leader, writing polkas and playing at weddings and nightclubs as he continued his studies.  He received a certificate of graduation in aircraft design and construction from the Academy of Aeronautics in 1954.  He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science from C.W. Post University in Westbury, New York in 1968.

On August 2nd, 1958, John married the love of his life, Theresa (Terry Lu). They were married 64 years at the time of his passing. John worked at Republic Aviation before transitioning to private consulting for aeronautics, and in the medical sector as a mechanical engineer.

During his retirement, John enjoyed building his own 3D printers and CNC routers, dabbling in woodworking, robotic development, programming, and music composition. John loved maintaining the Florida home he shared with Terry.

John was president of the homeowners association for a term in the development where he lived, and was respected and admired in his community as being friendly, compassionate, and helpful in times of need.

Uncle John, I was so sorry to hear about your passing. I remember when you and Aunt Terry got married and I was the flower girl. I remember thinking that I was pretty hot stuff being part of the wedding. I remember Christmas at Uncle Paul's when you were on piano and Uncle Paul was fiddling away on his violin and we all sang Christmas carols (sometimes off-key but always with good intentions). You'll be truly missed and remembered with fond memories. Rest in peace. Susan

Thank you, Daddy, for teaching me how to be kind, organized, proud of a task well done, showing me patience and brilliance and letting me make my mistakes. At the end of the day you were always there when I needed you, and that was the greatest gift of all.
I love you into eternity. -Celia Marie
