John W. Wagner II

COLUMBUS — John W. Wagner II, 55, of Florence, Ky., formerly of Columbus died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at 8:03 p.m., at St. Elizabeth Florence Hospital in Florence. John was born in Columbus on Sept. 20, 1954, the son of John W. Wagner and Rosemary Thrasher Wagner. He retired from Arvin-Meritor in 2004 as a computer operator, where he had served for 30 years. He was employed at Fifth Third Bank for the past two years, and was a former Little League Baseball coach in the Ogilville area. He married Rebecca S. Henderson on May 11, 1991. Survivors include his wife, daughter, Jennifer (Shane) Elifritz, sons, John W. Wagner III (Casey White), Chris (Angie) Ward, and William (Reannon) Ward, all of Columbus; a brother, Michael E. Wagner of Terre Haute; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marilyn Thompson and Martha Ramos.The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver and Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington St., in Columbus, with the Rev. Roy Hendershot officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Kidney Foundation, or the American Lung Association.
