John Washburn Obituary

Washburn, John Albert Of Parma passed away suddenly at his home Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the age of 78. He was the son of Vern and Muriel (Iverson) Washburn born April 5, 1934 in Jackson, MI. John was preceded in death by his loving wife Lois Washburn; infant daughter, and his parents. He is survived by one son, Daniel Washburn; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Holly, Payton Washburn, and adopted grandson, Patton Ott; four siblings, Charles Washburn, Nancy (Bruce) Duddles, Janet (Sherman) Wood, and James (Julie) Washburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Washburn was a 1953 Jackson High School graduate. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. John owned and operated Washburn & Son Well Drilling Inc. for over 20 plus years. He was an honorary member of the Michigan Well Drilling Association. John attended Sandstone Congregational Church. He was an avid hunter, and dearly loved spending time with his grandson Payton. Mr. Washburn is at the J. L. WATSON PARMA CHAPEL where a celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Melissa Claxton officiating, interment Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for those who wish may be made to Sandstone Congregational Church 250 S. Sandstone Rd., Jackson, MI 49201. The family will receive friends Monday at the chapel from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. & 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and again Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. J. L.
