John Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2025.
John A. Williams, 62, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

John leaves his devoted wife, Jonalyn Williams; his sons, Justin and Michael; and his daughter-in-law, Juela. He is also survived by his three brothers: David Williams and his wife, Mary Liz, of West Hartford, CT; Brian Williams and Paul Williams of Kensington, CT, and several nieces and nephews.

John lived a joyful and meaningful life marked by love, service, and dedication. He was a proud graduate of Southington High School, where he led as president of the Future Farmers of America-an early reflection of his lifelong commitment to leadership and community. John was also deeply proud of his 34 years of sobriety, a testament to his strength and perseverance, which became a cornerstone of his character and a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Professionally, John built a long and successful career. He spent 19 years with Hamilton Sundstrand, holding a managerial position in shipping and receiving, followed by 20 years with Northrop Grumman as a Manufacturing Field Engineer. John was known for his technical expertise and especially for his leadership and generosity mentoring new managers.

John carried these traits beyond his career in the service of his community and faith. He was a proud resident of Lake Plymouth for 34 years, where he served for several years on the Board of Governors and also as president of the Lake Plymouth Association. In these roles, he worked to improve and strengthen the community he cherished, leaving a legacy of leadership and kindness. John was actively involved with the First Congregational Church of Plymouth. He led the diaconate committee and spent several years as the church auditor. John and his wife, Jonalyn, organized initiatives such as the Philippine Book Drive, donating books to public school libraries, and helped create a safe place for children in Cagay, Cebu, Philippines.

A funeral service celebrating John's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Plymouth, in Plymouth, Connecticut.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at McLeod Hospital and Hospice Care in Florence, South Carolina, for their compassionate care, support, and dedication.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Plymouth Philippine Outreach Fund, in support of John's legacy of service and care for others. John's legacy of kindness, faith, and love for family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
