I knew John mostly through my dear cousin, his wife Kathy. When I met John, I was amazed by how he gave his total attention to a stranger that he was meeting for the first time. He had a sparkle in his eyes, a kind demeanor, and an aura of intelligence. He made you feel like you were the only person in the room, and devoted his complete attention to you and what you were saying. I learned a lot about John during the years through Kathy's devoted reporting of his achievements, and his unbelievable dedication to his studies and to his students. He really was a special human being, and I know my cousin was blessed to have this time with him. Kathy was devoted to John, and gave him the very best care possible. The way he raised his children, I am confident that they will enfold and support Kathy as she misses him in her daily life. He is resting now in the full blessings of his faith.

John's last semester at USCU was my first semester here. Even though we worked together for such a short time, I remember him fondly. John made me feel most welcome at USCU by frequently stopping by my office just to chat, particularly about Kierkegaard. I was saddened to hear of his death this past week.

I fondly remember Dr. Wright as someone who never met a stranger. I remember him from both my high school and college day as a man who was kind to all he met and was in my opinion a "cool guy". May he rest in peace and know he will be sorely missed. I will definitely be praying for his family.

John was a lovely man and a great scholar. I never knew him to be anything other than kind and generous in his dealings with other people. As a colleague, he set a high standard.

I was blessed to work with John during his last 5 years at USC Union. We had many great conversations about every topic imaginable, but what I remember most about him is his pure selflessness. Soon after I started teaching at Union, John offered some of the artwork in his office for mine as I had nothing on the walls at the time. That nature of giving defined our relationship from that point forward. I can only hope to be a fraction of the gentleman John was. God bless all of you.

Dr. Wright was my advisor at USCU and could always be counted on for a listening ear and good advise. Although I did not see him after I left USCU, I often wondered how he was and thought of him fondly.

To the family, you have my sincere sympathy and prayers.

Dr. Wright was one of the most brilliant men I had the pleasure of having as a teacher at USC-Union and afterwards a great colleague and friend. He will be missed so much. Certainly a man before his time. "A Shakespeare" of his era and a great to history. "A great legacy". RIP Dr. Wright.

I served with John on the faculty of USC/Union for 32 years. It is hard to let go of such a good and longtime friend and colleague. We worked together, attended concerts, operas, etc., together, and in fact he was in charge of the fine arts series at the campus for many years. I don't know how many times over the years we helped each other out with projects, committees, difficulties, etc. I miss him a lot and always will.

Dr. Wright was one of the most caring and intelligent professors that I had during my college career. I was also a co-worker with him at USC Union during his tenure there. He was loved and well respected by all of his colleagues and students. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

John drew your interest and commanded your respect, merely by his presence in a room. His intelligence, his curiosity about and knowledge of the world were inspirational. His devotion to his family and to his students was exceptional.
It was such an honor to know him. He touched all who knew him, and we will miss him.
