Sorry to hear of John's death. I knew his parents well, & John & Phil too.
His father, "Rusty" taught with my father, Robert Goldsmith, at E&H.

Todd and Edna, I'm praying for you too for different reasons.

Dear dear Uncle John - you have been such a huge part of my life. The hysterical stories about the childhood that you, Mom, Uncle Phil and Aunt Lib shared - growing up in the hills of North Carolina and south western VA. - I will miss those. And your stories and memories about my Dad. And I will miss you.

It was a great pleasure for me to have recently spent time with John at his sister Sue's home this summer. As a model rocketeer in my youth, I spent a lot of time and energy on the hobby of building and launching rockets. Talking with John about actual NASA operations, missions and technology was a truly a blast-off for me. I am sad I will not have an opportunity to continue where we left off. Worthy of note is that John is also credited as the “NASA worker who discovered the use of gravitational pull of the earth and moon to bring the Apollo 11 lunar module back to earth.” Wow!

John's quick witt & great sense of humor will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to Edna, Kristen, Todd, Phil's Family along with Sue & her family. Your Husband Brother & father was a great person who deeply touched those who where lucky enough to know him
