August 7, 2023, Johnathan James Willette of Henderson, Nevada passed away unexpectedly.
Johnathan was the eldest of two children born on November 7, 1976, to James and Yoko Willette at Yokota Air Base Hospital in Tokyo, Japan where his father worked while serving our country in the Air Force. Johnathan lived on the Air Base until May 1982 when his family moved to Malmstrom Air Force Base, Great Falls, Montana. Johnathan again moved back to Yokota Air Base on the 6th of December in 1983 where he lived until the family moved to Travis Air Force Base, California on August 17, 1989. Johnathan lived there until his father retired from the Air Force on March 1, 1995, and the family moved to Henderson, Nevada. Johnathan spent the rest of his life here in Henderson and Las Vegas until his final day.
Johnathan played a lot of baseball in his younger years in Little League. He was on the only American Little League Team in all of Japan. Eventually after moving to the United States, he joined a traveling team where he played ball up and down the West Coast eventually playing a tournament here in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Johnathan worked on the Las Vegas Strip at several different companies, selling Time Shares for 20 plus years. Later he started “JW Marketing” working for Pampas. Before the pandemic, Johnathan moved on from his marketing business, starting a second business, “The Vegas Moving Guy”. He was a determined and dedicated man, always looking to assist anyone with moving or hauling. You would see his truck and trailer with two American Flags all around the Las Vegas Valley.
Johnathan loved to talk to everyone, especially at his jobs. He became one of the most likeable people on the Las Vegas Strip. His Facebook pages attest to all those he had touched during his life. He was known as someone who would help you out by giving you a job in hard times and also moving you or your possessions on moment’s notice. He and his crew performed yard work, housing repairs, installs or just removing junk out of your property.
In a word, Johnathan was a hard-worker and his keen intellect drove all his pursuits. His passion to help others exceeded his own desires. Whatever he did, he was all in!
He is survived by his Father James (JC), Mother Yoko, Stepmother Valerie, Brother Kenneth, Son Deviere, and two Daughters Tommaya and Jonnaya all of which lived in Henderson and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Footprints in the Sand
One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord and across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to me and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way, but I have noticed during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why in times when I needed you most, you should leave me." The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. "When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
