Eula - Johnny Densmore Adkins, 76, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at his residence in Eula, Texas.

He was born July 22, 1948, the son of Bobby Joe Adkins and Frieda Pearl Fly (Lackey). Johnny graduated from Tarleton State University in 1973. After graduation he worked as a Cowboy and as the Party Chief of the SophieBravo, a Seismic research boat traveling all over the world. Johnny married his partner and best friend, Leonna Kay Adkins (Burleson) in July of 1983 and adopted her two children, John and Christy. Johnny and Leonna enjoyed 36 years of marriage until her death in 2020.

He was a member of the Brushy Creek Cowboy Church and the American Chuck Wagon Association. Johnny and Leonna would travel Texas and the surrounding states competing in chuckwagon cookoffs for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leonna, his parents and younger brother, Jerry.

Johnny is survived by his son, John Adkins and daughter in law Melanie Adkins of Baird; daughter Christy Burke and son in law Ramey Burke of McKinney; brother-in-law Jeff Burleson of Baird; niece Kathleen Jenkins of Baird; grandson Austin Adkins and grand-daughter in law Jerrica Adkins of Baird; granddaughter Lilly Burke of McKinney; great granddaughter Katie Adkins of Baird; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The Family would like to say a very special Thank You to Michael and Cyndi Stein of Lipan and Tim 'Smitty' Smith of Clyde.

A graveside service will be held 11am, Saturday November 9, 2024 at the Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Baird Volunteer Fire Department or the Callahan County Nutrition Project.
