Jon Caylor

Jon L. Caylor, 76, of Weston, passed away while under hospice care on December 22, 2016. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by the closest of his family members. Jon was born in Wisconsin Rapids on March 23, 1940. His list of accomplishments is long and wide-ranging. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and he felt great pride in that for the rest of his life. After his time in the Marines, he graduated from University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he studied Agriculture and Soils, and that education led him to a career with the United States Department of Agriculture. He was active in the lives of his children, spending many years as a Little League Baseball coach and on the local Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts. Later in life, he obtained a private pilot's license, which represented the achievement of a lifelong dream, and he was also a licensed Ham Radio Operator. He loved all dogs, especially beagles, and also antique tractors, which he restored and maintained as a hobby in his retirement years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary (Breuer) Caylor, of Weston, daughter Amy Caylor, and his beloved grandson Riley Fink, both of Wausau, son David Caylor of Greensboro, North Carolina, sister Kay Caylor (Bill Kern) of Bellingham, Washington, and many nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Bernice Caylor, brother Robert Caylor, and a son, Steven Caylor, all of whom he has now reunited with. The family extends its truest and deepest thanks to the amazing health care providers at Aspirus Hospital whose dedicated work and compassion made his last days so comfortable. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 6101 Zinser Street, Weston, WI. Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church and again on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church.
