I was heartbroken to realize we had lost Jack. I just discovered the obit online so I am very tardy to this. Jack was a great man, a great friend. I don't know of him ever saying 'no' to anything suggested. He was always game to do everything, living life in such a full way. We flew together at Eastern, we stayed in touch until 2009 when I was going through a divorce. He had invited me to CA to attend 'dancing with the stars' being taped. of course he was going! I got his pics of that and of his Santa toe in the Pacific and in the Atlantic. God and so many of our friends must have needed a talent with a great smile. Jack would never say NO.
I've lost contact with Chris as well. Chris, I am so sorry for your loss.

I met Jack on a Holland America Cruise when he tried to talk me into taking his water color art class. Eventually, he succeeded in getting me in the class, but I just could not learn to sketch, so I apologized for taking up too much of his time with no talent. Jack wasn't having it, he said not to drop out, I was the most fun person in the class. And then he talked me into teaching iPhone Photography and set it up with the ship. It is an unpaid job, but I love doing it and I will always appreciate Jack for recognizing my talent and getting me going. It is a wonderful way to meet lots of very nice people, like Jack.
This picture was taken January 31, 2018 in Antarctica. I loved his since of humor along with his creativity. I sent him this picture a few years ago. RIP Jack.

Jack was a very special person and very talented. He made friends wherever he went. I met Jack about 8 years ago in an art class he was teaching on a Holland America Cruise. Since then, I had attended many of his art classes and started doing portraits also of people I came across on cruises. In fact, I just finished with my husband a 71 day cruise to the North Atlantic countries and one evening as I was enjoying a combo on the ship I did portraits of each of the combo players as well as several of the couples dancing that evening. I later gave each of them their portrait! As I did that I was remembering how Jack would do the same throughout the cruise we were on together!
Because of Jack, I have been able to fulfill a dream that I had as a kid . . . that of being able to draw and paint. When I was a senior in high school my art instructor said I should go into art in college . . . but; my father said absolutely NO! So I waited until I was retired before I renewed that interest and Jack really made it happen! Because of him, I now work with pencil sketches, watercolors, colored pencils and acrylics! His classes really allowed me to stretch my abilities in those areas. He never said no that is not the way to do that. He allowed one to experiment and stretch one's abilities . . . and that I did!
Beyond that, Jack even opened the door for me to teach watercolor classes for the American Cruiseline. I was shocked when he called me and suggested that I contact them and inquire of teaching for them. The reality is that came to fruition a few years ago and I am indebted to him for opening that door for me. It has been an incredible experience that never would have happened without Jack's guidance.
Jack was a very giving person and went beyond what the average person would go in giving. He was warm, welcoming, a friend, a bit of an adventurer in all of his travels around the world and had an eye for beholding the beauty in each person. His passing is a true loss for me as I considered him a true friend and source of inspiration. May he be resting in God's almighty arms!

Jack introduced me to watercolor on a cruise and encouraged me to sketch while ashore. I just returned from a long cruise with 6 filled sketchbooks -- never would have happened without Jack's encouragement. He will be missed!

Jack was a funny guy! I loved the bantering between him and his cousin, Eddie (My love). Jack knew how much I loved gummy bears, and every now and again I would get a package at the door, and Jack had sent me a bag of gummy bears! I'll miss that! RIP Jackie!!

Jack was a wonderful artist and helped Sixth Star fill artist positions on the cruise ships. He was always painting people and giving them his artwork for free. We will miss him terribly and his funny humor. Rest in Peace Jack.

Jack will be missed by his friends and relatives in Puerto Rico, where I met him as did our family. Always smiling, helping, he always kept in touch. A pleasure of a man, gone too soon. My deepest sympathy to his family.
