March 16, 1960 - Dec. 11, 2017

ELKHART - Mr. Jon Patrick Klopfenstein, 57, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Mon., Dec. 11, 2017, at 9:06 pm at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.

He was born March 16, 1960, in Elkhart, to Mr. and Mrs. Keith E. and M. Joanne (Williams) Klopfenstein, who survive him in Elkhart.

Also surviving are his brother, Kent Klopfenstein, and sister, Susan Massey, both of Elkhart; nieces, Megan (Nathan) Yeager and Sarah Fann, both of Elkhart; and his inseperatible best friend and brother-in-law, Chris Fann of Elkhart. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, James and Mabel Klopfenstein, and Herbert and Ethel Williams.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is honored to host the celebration of Jon's life beginning with a viewing on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, from 4-7 pm, followed by a brief service at 7:00 pm. Pastor Tim Sheets of Elkhart's Northside Church of the Nazarene will officiate, and, in accordance with Jon's wishes, cremation will follow the services with burial at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart at a later date.

Jon had worked in the dry cleaning business since before high school. He started with his parent's business, Personalized Services Dry Cleaning of Elkhart, and then moved on to Ziker's Dry Cleaning of South Bend in 1998, where he worked at the time of his passing. He was a hard worker, and valued the concept of a job well done. His eclectic collection of interests included his avid desire to read, woodworking, music, vintage cars, American history, and picking and collecting antiques. However, his love remained steadfast for his family, especially his two nieces, and he will be best remembered for unique and giving outlook on life and people.

I worked with Jon for the past 11 years and he truly was an above average person. His kindness and understanding knew no limits. He worked hard every single day and was such a huge asset to Zikers because of it. We were coworkers, but above that, we were friends. He would always give me his review of whatever movie he had seen over the weekend as well as tips for the best pizza in the area. Some people may not know this but he was also a skilled carpenter. He designed and built stairs for our trucks that the drivers still use to this day. I send my condolences to his family and friends. He was a really amazing person and friend and he will be missed and fondly remembered by so many

To Jon's family, sorry for your loss. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, may that bring you comfort at this difficult time.
