I remember Jon, Mr. Provost, as I always referred to him, and Holly from their time at Northern Elementary School. I think of him with great fondness. He was such a nice man.
Holly may not be aware, but Jon played an important role for us Christmas '93. You see Holly's classmate, my son, had told his sister there was no Santa. She came to me very upset. She was 5. Of course I told her not to listen to him and my husband and I worked out a plan with Jon. While we were gone to Christmas Eve services, Jon came to our house to do Santa's work. When we returned the house was all lit up and the tree lights were on. The plate of cookies set on the hearth with a big bite missing as well as the milk partially drank. Our children were ecstatic! I overheard my son say, " Maybe there really is a Santa Claus. To this day my children do not know it was Jon.
Another time he came to our rescue was the year of the big snow. He lived just a few miles north of us at the time. We lived on a hill and frequently had to leave our car at the bottom of the hill as we did not have 4 wheel drive. Anyway we had 2-3 feet of snow and Jon came and plowed out a path for us. I couldn't believe it when my children came to tell me a man was out there moving the snow. He had come out of the goodness of his heart.
We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and especially Holly.

Jon and the rest of his family are in our prayers. We have known his sweet daughter Holly for a number of years up here where she lives in Mass. and mourn the loss of her Dad.
