Jon Whedon Obituary
He was born Aug. 31, 1956, in Oneida, a son of Francis and Geraldine Gleason Whedon. He had been employed as a chef for Dibble's Inn in Vernon, and several other area restaurants.
Surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law, David and Penny Whedon, of Sonoma, Calif., and Mitchell Whedon, of Vernon; two sisters, Carol Reed and her companion, Scott Murray, of Vernon, and Mary Turppa, of Oneida; his companion, Misty Ruehl, of Hamilton, and two special friends, Wesley Wendt and Martin Kimball. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas in 2007.
Friends are invited and may call on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida. Private interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneida.

To the Whedon family
Jon was one of a kind he was every thing all wrapped up in one package
He was kind,sensitive,wise,loyal, he was s master chef, and funny beyond belief.
When I needed work he put his name on the line for me and got me my job at Dibbles Inn just because I knew Mitch and Mary
He gave me his shoulder when I needed one, he took his time to talk when I needed a friend and he gave me more laughs and memories than I could ever count

Your brother gave me a lot of laughs, he was always so kind, I loved going to work at Dibbles on weekends and will never forget trips to Raquette lake especially when he made sure he bought the biggest Filet Mignon strip to feed us! My uncle Jon was one of the best men who ever walked the face of this earth. He loved his family, and he taught me a lot about fishing, and about life. He was always in a good mood and I could always talk to him about everything and anything. He was the best uncle a guy could ask for and he will be sadly missed by so many people, but will never ever be forgotten. Rest in Peace Uncle Jon.
