Jonathan Beech Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 10, 2007.
Jonathan Martin Beech, 15, of Kennett Township, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 10, after a four year battle with brain cancer. Jonathan was a freshman at Kennett High School. He was held in high regard for his hardworking ethic, his superb thinking ability, and his gift for music. As a student at Kennett Middle School he received many honors and awards, including the prestigious American Legion Award. He was voted most likely to succeed by his eighth grade classmates. He was a pianist, a cellist, and a singer, and won many awards for his music work, both in and out of school. He received state awards for academic excellence from The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth and Carnegie Mellon University Student Talent Search. He is listed in Whos Who Among Outstanding Middle School Students. Jonathan also voiced frequent concern for environmental issues and for cancer research. His hope was to encourage others to make contributions in both areas. He and his entire family have been greatly supported by friends and family throughout the country, but especially in this amazing community. The staff and students of the Kennett schools have been wonderful, especially Jonathans remarkable friends and their families who stood with Jonathan through his entire journey from initial diagnosis through his passing. Jonathan is survived by his parents Martin and Donna Beech of Kennett Township, one brother, David C. Beech at home, his paternal grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral service will be held 10AM, Saturday March 17, 2007, at St. Josephs on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, Delaware. Friends and family are invited to call from 2:30 4:30PM and 7-9PM Friday March 16 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc. (610-444-4116), 250 West State St., Kennett Square. Interment will be in Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 101 Old Kennett Road, Wilmington, immediately following the funeral. After the committal service, a reception will be held in the social hall of Lower Brandywine Church.
