Ray C. DeVille
age 92 of Canton, spent his last week surrounded by his six children and many of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren celebrating his life. He passed away peacefully Wednesday evening after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born May 6, 1919 in Canton, Ohio to Mary and Clement DeVille, he married Dorothy Irene Myer on Oct. 10, 1940. An Army veteran, Ray served in World War II under General MacArthur. He worked as Vice President/ Secretary at DeVille Lumber Company until starting his own corporation, Perfection Developers, now DeVille Apartments and Builders, Inc.. Ray was very civic minded and was involved in many organizations throughout his life including; Founding member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Vice President of Canton Jaycees, Director of Ohio Jaycees, Senator of Jaycees International, Member of the Builders Association, President of the Ohio Lumber Dealers Association, Director and Treasurer of the Lumbermen's Investment Corporation of Ohio, President of the Lumbermen's Mortgage Association, Director of The Canton Chamber of Commerce, President of The Credit Bureau of Canton, President of The Canton Sales Executive Club, member of the McKinley Alumni Association and 1937 Reunion Chair, Officer in The Civil Air Patrol and a Member of The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, AOPA. Ray was dedicated to his work, however family was his priority. He enjoyed family adventures, fishing, hunting, boating, flying, golfing and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Clement DeVille; his brother, Paul DeVille; his sisters, Imelda Robish and Lucille Betzler.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Irene Myer DeVille; two sons, Roger (Patty) DeVille and Donald (Laurie) DeVille; four daughters, Marsha (Denny) Bricker, Gayle (John) Woolf, Faye (Tom) Hudec, Diane (Rex) Porter; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He has left us for a better place, but his legacy will live on in his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers who shared their love and kindness with him over the last several years and most recently, those who cared for him at Bethany Nursing Home.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home and Monday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Donald King celebrant. Entombment will be immediately following in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Ray's name to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

Dear Aunt Dorothy and Cousins,

I offer you my sympathy on the loss of Uncle Ray. Being one of his nieces I got to experience all kinds of fun things from learning how to water ski at Lake Mohawk to being a passenger in his plane. He was a generous and kind man. May fond memories bring you peace.
