I did not meet Johnny but i often heard Elaine and Lloyd speak of him fondly. Elaine especially giggled about him in her lovely warm way. I extend my sincerest condolences to the family and would like to give my dear friend Lloyd as well as Liz and Grant a very big hug.

Johnny had a wonderful sense of humour, through which his exceptional intellect always shone. He was always ready to help, and was undaunted by physical challenges. When we moved to Wellington, he immediately volunteered to come and help move our household up the 13 zig-zags and 187 steps to our house in Barnard St. As we struggled up these steps with the old F&P washing machine that had a huge lump of concrete in its base to steady it, a nosy neighbour leant out her window and said " oh is that a washing machine" , to which Johnny immediately replied " Yes, they are supposed to be labour-saving devices"! Once we reached the top, he declared that we had discovered a gravitational anomaly, as things appeared to weigh more at the top of the path than they had at the bottom!
A really lovely and loving guy, lived for his kids and grandkids, and for his lovely wife Cora. Johnny is going to be sorely missed by us all...Arohanui.
