Mr. Jonathan David Harmon

Mr. Jonathan David "JD" Harmon , 72, of Drexel passed away on Sunday August 11, 2013 at his residence after a period of declining health. Mr. Harmon was born August 3, 1941 in Carter County, TN., a son of the late William Gaither and Lona Easter Greene Harmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Rex and Chester Harmon and a sister, Mildred Harmon Haas. He was a retired printer and enjoyed playing the guitar. Surviving are his wife Frances St. John Harmon of the home, two sons, David Reed Harmon of Charlotte, Christopher Lane Harmon and wife Kathy of Concord, one sister, Velma King of Greensboro, and three brothers, Henry Harmon of Drexel, Roy Harmon of Elk Park, and Charles Harmon of High Point. Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Rebekah Harmon, Reed Harmon and Lane Harmon. Funeral Services for "J.D." Harmon will be held at 4:30 P.M. Tuesday August 13, 2013 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with Rev. Ricky Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Drexel Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 P.M. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese. Memorials may be made in memory of JD Harmon to P.O. Box 993, Drexel, NC 28619.
