Jonathan W. "Jon" Markley, 39, of Claysville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 19, 2021.

Jon was born March 18, 1982, a son of Michael (Rebecca) Markley of Washington, and the late Paula Ann Reilly-Markley.

On November 28, 2003, he married his high school sweetheart, Michelle Riggle, of Prosperity. They made their home in Claysville for the past 17 years. They have a son Mason, 16, and a daughter, Paige, 8, who were the light of his life.

A 2000 graduate of McGuffey High School, Jon also was a graduate of Vo-Tech for Masonry.

For the past 20 years, he has worked in the warehouse of Komatsu, formerly Joy Mining, in Meadow Lands.

His greatest passions in life were his children and family, and his strong faith in his Lord. He loved his pet doberman, Brandy, was a great friend to many, and his sense of humor will be missed. Jon enjoyed hunting, collecting guns, knives and watches, but his true love was for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Surviving are siblings Onilee (Bill) Moore of Washington, Ashlee (Zach) Stringer of Springhill, Fla., Melanie (Bud) Lytton of Amity, Steven (Becky) Shoup of Washington, and Rachel (Scott) Chunko of Washington; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Ann Reilly-Markley; baby brother, Michael Markley Jr.; maternal grandparents, Annabelle and James Reilly; and paternal grandparents, Mary and Robert Markley.

The family is asking for thoughts and prayers as they grieve.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 23, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating.

Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.

A Go Fund Me titled "Funeral Expenses for Jon Markley" has been organized by Carissa Worobec, to cover funeral and burial expenses, and to help Jon's children, Mason and Paige.

A guest book is available at www.NealFuneralHome.com.
