John-Boy you are going to missed so much. That smile and laughter was something to behold. I was so proud of you for serving our country. You made so many good friends in the Army and I was honored to meet some of them. You fly high now and know we will always love you.

I am so grieved by your loss. I did not know your son, but there is no doubt, he will be missed. The best of the best. I too come from a family with military roots. The couragous! The brave! The few! Thank you for your service as the family of your wonderful son. Peace be with you all.
God bless you

I only knew Merritt for about and year and a half but during that time he always had a smile on his face and he would always help someone if they needed it. We may of had our differences but he was and still is someone I'll look up too. He will and is truly be missed by everyone in Palehorse troop and everyone he impacted during his life. To the family, I'm sorry for your loss and know that we are all here for you during this time.

I was Merritt's Platoon leader for the first half of his tour in Afghanistan. He was a loyal a kind soldier. He awalys had his friends back when they went exploring Germany. I remember Merritt and Cline were two peas in a pod. I am so sorry fo you loss and it is a loss to White Platoon, Palehorse Troop, Saber Squadron and the Second Cavaly Regiment. He was a brave soldier that helped his friends in an IED blast and this country owes his a debt of gratitude.
