Jonathan Quint Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 30, 2023.
Jonathan (Jon) Quint, a longtime Brookline resident and loving son, brother, uncle, family member and friend, died on May 28 after a short illness.

Jon had a gentle, kind heart and unending patience. Anyone who met Jon even for the first time felt a sense of genuine interest and sincerity. He was a fiercely loyal friend and family member, always offering love and support when it was needed most, helping others understand the enduring power of friendship and connection.

Jon was a great storyteller and comedian, recounting long jokes that invariably included a character with a Yiddish accent. Music came naturally to Jon and he played blues harmonica, and improvised joyously on the piano and guitar. Jon loved spending time with friends and family; playing games (Scrabble and Spelling Bee and Cribbage), cooking, making music and making lasting memories. He was an avid lover of Science Fiction, movies, books, in particular ANYTHING by Isaac Asimov.

Jon was an adventurous traveler, visiting upwards of 40 countries. He was passionate about all cultures, not just visiting but immersing himself completely in the experience. He was especially fond of Thai culture, spoke the language and loved preparing and eating Thai food.

Jon spent many years living, studying and working in Israel and spoke fluent Hebrew. He had a gift for learning languages.

Jon was a lover of plants and flowers, nurtured in the greenhouses of his grandfather Harry, where he worked in high school and later after college.

Jon attended the Dublin School in New Hampshire, graduated from Brookline High School and studied at UMass-Boston and the University of Haifa. Jon had a rich and varied professional life, ranging from positions with technology companies in Boston, New York, Europe, and Israel, to small entrepreneurial enterprises with friends and colleagues.

Jon leaves his mother Sylvia (Ellis) Gorin, his dear friend and companion Andrea Patino of Brookline, his sister Elizabeth Christie and her husband, Stephen Christie of Dedham, and his nieces and nephews Samantha Frankel, Alexander Frankel, Jason Christie and Brianna Christie. He also leaves his brother James Quint, his step-sister Harriet Gorin, and his step-brother Norman Gorin and his wife Amy. He was predeceased by his sister Leslie Quint Canney, his father Earl Quint, and his stepfather Harold Gorin. Jon also leaves many dear cousins and friends, in the Boston area and around the world.

Jon touched so many lives, brought people together, and he will be remembered for his selfless generosity and his genuine interest and caring for others.

A celebration of Jon's life will take place on Sunday, June 4 at the Brookline home of Andrew Dreyfus and Meredith Rosenthal. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. If interested in attending, please send a private message in messenger or email Samantha Frankel at [email protected]
