Jonathon D Mills

Jonathon Dowd Mills went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 21, 2017. He only lived 30 short years but they were 30 years full of life. He graduated from Forest Hills High School in 2004 and from South Piedmont Community College with an Associates Degree in Arts . Jon was someone who always brought happiness with him wherever he went. He had a heart of gold and an infectious smile that could light up any room. He had a great passion for music and history, but he was always the most comfortable at the pool table. Jon would spend hours practicing trying to be as good as his father. He would go on to be a prominent player in an APA team. Jon had a small group of friends that he was always willing to be with and support. His light would shine through all the fuss that is normal life, and was a beacon of generosity and kindness for others to see as an example. Jon had an unquestionable moral compass that became the ruler by which others measured themselves by. Jon would always reach out to ask you how you were, if you needed anything, and not because it was expected of him but because he cared. He was an avid movie goer, but refused to see movies with anyone but his movie buddy, his Grandma Tootie. Jon was also a lover of comics and superheros, but he was our superhero.
Jon was preceded in death by his mother Teresa Ann Barrett, grandfather Giles Hubert Barrett, great grandfather Marvin "Blackie" Williams and great grandmother Lucille Curry Williams, great aunt Sally Williams. He is survived by his father Danny Mills, his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Barrett, and
paternal grandparents Anna "Tootie" Broome, Jerry Mills and Sue Kiker. He is also survived by his uncle Mike Mills and his wife Sandy, aunt Blake Blackman and her husband Jason and aunt Maribeth Hidalgo and her husband Steven. Jon's nieces Eliana Suarez, Alexandria Suarez, and nephew Jadon Hidalgo also survive him. He also has two cousins Colton Mills and Noah McNabb. Additionally, Jon is survived by his brothers Raymond, Steven, Fonzo, James, Ian and Andy and his special person, Katie Twomey.
The family will receive friends March 27, 2017 from 4:00pm until 5:45pm at Trinity Baptist Church in Monroe. A memorial service will begin at 6:00pm with Pastor Dac Croasmun officiating. Online condolences may be offered by visiting www.mcewenmonroechapel.com
