Dear Hillel, Jake, Julie and Claire,
Chelsie and I would like to express our heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Joni. Although I personally never met her, I was following her progress through my daughter Chelsie, (Claire's dear friend) the entire time.
And Hillel, as I was getting ready to come to the shiva, I decided to look up the guest book first. While doing so, I came across the touching piece you wrote where you say: "She put her head feebly on my chest and crying softly apologized to me for getting sick. It was a heart wrenching moment for me." Reading that brought tears to my eyes. I could really feel your deep love and pain!!!!!
May knowing that others are thinking of you during this difficult time ease the pain... even if just a little.

Hillel, I have not met you,or your children, but I am Joni's childhood friend (Phyllis (Brown)Kotzer). I knew the Weltman's well, as our families were very good friends and summered together for years in Vermont. My mother and father were very close friends with Claire and Julius and my sister was friends with Terry and Karen, I played endlessly with Joni. Claire and Julius were like our Aunt and Uncle, in fact we called them by that.

I was shocked to hear of Jone's passing and I send my deepest sympathies from my family, and my Mom and my sister to you and yours - and Terry and Karen.

Joni was a huge part of my childhood and I know how sweet, gifted, and fun she was. Later we went to the same camp. She was a wonderful gymnist, and a very enthusiastic human being with a unique sense of humour. I am sure she must have been an amazing Mother and Wife as well.
