Jordy was my brother in law for many years. He was a gentle soul, mega talented and wonderfully humorous. We loved him and miss him. We know he's rocking in heaven. Gone but never forgotten.

Jordy, from one drummer to another, you were one awesome cat! Every time I saw you play I got inspired to improve (probably because you could drum circles around me any day!) One of the funniest things I ever saw you do was after a gig, you loaded your kit on the back of your truck--with no cases--and the cymbals still on the stands! You were hip, cool, jazzy, bluesy, innovative, solid and rockin' all rolled into one! They wrote that song just for you--"I don't wanna work, I just wanna bang on de drums all day!" You were an amazing talent and I will miss you. Your friend, Clif Coleman

Jordan was an unforgettable character...First time I saw him play was around '81 (Mojo workin') with The Phantoms. I was only 19 and in awe of his fluent playing style (and hair style). He was the first and only drummer I saw play the underside of the cymbals as well as the top! Later on I had the pleasure of jamming with him a few times. He had an old Buddy Miles album that I was curious about and he insisted "take it, it's yours man". I still have that album. He was a great kind hearted guy that will be missed but not forgotten.

Jordy was truly one of a kind, both as a person and as a musician. It was always great to catch a chance to see him play.I am thankful to have been able to work with Jordy a few times, then we would run into each other occasionaly and it would always make your day just to talk with him.
Jordy will be sadly missed and never forgotten.

Jordy You are going to be missed by so many. I enjoyed getting to know you through John & Jason. And the holidays we spent together. You were an amazing musician. I hope you are up there jamming with the best. Death is only hard for the ones left behind.

In that very moment everyone was silent, yet everyone was friendly. Although their pain was apparent & the floor wet & slippery with the tracks of their tears. And then he saw someone standing at the side of the stage.... not standing in the shadows.... he saw her face glowing in the darkness in her own angel way... I have come to make you better... I have come to take you away.
Jordy is a legend that will live on in the hearts many... a kind soul who walked a unique path in life and taught so many of us so much about life and music.... and those drums... oh my.... what a unique talent... Rest in peace with the Angels now Jordy...

I met Jordan as a teenager and he was full of life then and always. Very energetic and interested in switch blades and proud of his & Mike's bobble head Beatle dolls. You couldn't meet either one of the Erwin boys without being immediately intrigued. If you ever saw Jordan play drums, it only took one look to see that he was in his element. My heart goes out to his family as we share in their sorrow. Jack and I agree that Jordan was the least prejudice person we have met. Everyone was the same in his eyes. God Bless Him!

I had the honor of playing with Jordy in The Younger Brothers Band for several years. From that 10" brown tom to Sailor Bills in Columbus,Georgia to that flea market in any given town looking for more knives to add to his collection...from his 20" kick drum to the way he played so dash-like by putting his heart right there on top of the beat........from the Reeves family to all of his friends in Lynchburg that he talked about with such love and adoration....from being asked to say something on his famous "hello
tapes" to Frankie Vallie to all the stay-up-all-nights.......Gorgy Power
was kind to all, had a teriffic sense of humor, was candid and honest. I am blessed to have known him.

Jordy was the man. Great drummer and good friend. I will miss dropping by his place to visit or picking him up to go listen to a band when he wasn't playing. I will never forget Jordy and am very glad he was a part of my life. I will miss him and look forward to hearing him again in a better place. Rest in peace, my friend.

I think Jordy would laugh at us posting these comments. He would have something funny to say about it. Such a practical and cool guy. I wish I knew him longer than I did. I will read every entry here because THERE ARE SOME MEMORIES AND STORIES that I want to hear. Jordy was a deeply caring person. There will never be another one like him.

I had the pleasure of playing music with Jordy in a rock band years ago. He had a great technique, style, and talent. He was as skilled a drummer as I've ever met in all of my life, and his laughter brought me out of the dumps more than one time. I'll miss him.
My condolences and sympathies go out to the family.

Oh man, Jordy, if you are reading these enties in the "after life" that's got to be strange! So, hey man-hey man-we'll be jammin'again before you know it! Thanks for all the great moments in Lynchburg music history-you are one of my favorite drummer dudes. You will be missed! Love You!

Grew up with Jordan in the Woodcrest Dr. neighborhood. Remember going to New Jersey with him and his folks to see his home town. We both played drums through Junior High and High School and enjoyed sharing ideas on how we played. I got tired of always having to put the drum set together when going out to play somewhere and sold them and bought a guitar. Jordan carried on and made his own special mark in the drumming world. I will truly miss him and will cherish my memories of our times together

Jordan was a loved member of our family thru his marriage to my sister, Cindy.

What a priviledge it was to have known him for the last (30) Thirty years.

His sense of humor was legendary...

I still remeber Jordan and Jerome Reeves using a tape recorder to record the background sounds from Bruce Lee movies, and then creating some of the funniest "fights" between them, complete with the Karate sounds to play back for just for the fun of it.

As a drummer he was unequaled....
and just a fun guy to hang out with.

Jordy... you will live one in our hearts.

Rest now in the peace and glory of GOD ....and..... say hi to my dad for me.

I was one the lucky people that got to know Jordy and spend most of my life around him in one form or another. He always went out of his way to speak to you and would do anything he could for you.I watched him play the drums with many a band and loved listening to him every time! A lot of good memories to keep!

Walking to the beat of a different drummer is such an understatement. If you met Jordy, you became a friend instantly. I'm a musician now, because of his encouragement. A musician for life because of his friendship. I still have a song with you on the recording. What a blast. We will play together again, one day. You will be truly missed. Our prayers are with your family. Rest now, my friend. Kevin,

I didn't know Jordy very well, we were acquainted through our mutual musician friends, but, I always enjoyed our conversations. He was a wonderful spirit, a fine musician, and I know he will be missed.

"Jordan was always the coolest guy I ever knew, how he did things, how he dressed, the music he played. How he was always quick with something to make you laugh. He was all heart as a friend and when he was playing drums with so many musicians out there. An original... authentic man I'll never forget." Doug Mac Leod (Bedford Co.)

Jordy was a one of a kind person and a one of a kind drummer who will be missed by me and the many people he shared his musical talents with. Used to run into him coming in and out of Mitchell's store and we would talk and I always enjoyed his cheerful spirit!! Jordy walked his own path through life, which made him so unique and like no other. I'll cherish those memories we had together.
