Jordan Taylor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2023.
Jordan Whitney Taylor, an intrepid adventurer and passionate animal lover, passed away on July 1, 2023, at the age of 34, due to injuries sustained while participating in a triathlon. Her boundless spirit, fueled by a profound appreciation for the world's beauty and her deep affection for animals, has left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Born on April 15, 1989, in Salt Lake City, Jordan's love for animals blossomed at a young age, leading her to discover her lifelong passion for horses. From the early days of Hunter Jumping competitions to later excelling in 3-Day eventing, Jordan's talent and dedication earned her the opportunity to train with renowned equestrians from the United States, Canada, and Ireland, both at home and abroad.

After graduating from Park City High School in 2007, Jordan pursued her academic aspirations at the University of Utah, graduating with a BS in Chemistry in 2012. Following her college education, she relocated to Temecula, CA, enabling her to train and compete with her beloved thoroughbred, Cambridge (Theryn) throughout the year. She continued her academic journey and obtained an MBA from the University of Redlands in 2016. In addition to Theryn, Jordan's heart overflowed with love for her other animals: her cherished gelding Dartmouth (Dart), her loyal rescue dog Alfie, and her beloved cat Cooper.

Jordan's adventurous spirit led her to explore diverse corners of the globe, immersing herself in numerous Asian and European countries. She reveled in the richness of various cultures and formed lasting connections along her journeys. Jordan had plans to embark on a trip to Patagonia, a destination she was eagerly looking forward to visiting and exploring later this year.

Through the selfless act of organ donation, Jordan's legacy lives on, as she improved the lives of four individuals by donating her heart, liver, and two kidneys. In her honor, she would wish to inspire others to become donors themselves, continuing to impact lives in a profound and meaningful way.

Jordan's memory will forever be cherished by her loving family, including her parents, Bruce Taylor and Paula Gibbs (Stella Stencer), her sister, Maya Taylor (Timothy Thomas), and her cherished nephew, Isaac, whom she adored as an aunt. She delighted in nurturing his growth, showcasing his abilities, and filling his world with love and wonder.

A special acknowledgement of the family's love and friendship go to her extended family including Bill, Emilee, Nikki, Ashlyn, Andrea, Katy, Christie, Lynne, Alisha, and Lauren.

A gathering to celebrate Jordan's life will be held in September in Park City, UT and in October in Temecula, CA. All whose lives were touched by her vibrant presence are invited to join, sharing stories, laughter, hugs, and tears as we find solace in the beautiful memories we created with Jordan.

In memory of Jordan's unwavering love for animals, the family kindly requests donations be made to an animal welfare organization or shelter in her honor. Through this gesture, her legacy of compassion and care for animals will continue to make a positive impact on their lives.

May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory inspire us to embrace life's wonders and nurture our connections with both the world and the creatures that inhabit it.

When the initial shock and tears passed I was left with these verses from Jimmi Hendrix in "Little Wing"

Well, she´s walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that´s running wild
Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams, and her fairytales
That´s all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind

Paula, Bruce, Maya, we all share your loss of Jordan

Jordan came into my life at a point I needed someone so bad. She was instantly my best friend when I moved to a place I knew no one. We were childhood friends and we were always getting into shenanigans! We would stay up to 3 a.m. filming the Jordi and Lauren show, the one time she showed up and my house with no shoes on, on her motorized scooter, running around horse shows together! There are endless memories. The world lost a light that shined so bright. I have no words to say how thankful I am to have been able to call you my friend. I will never forget you Jordan! Sending so much love to you Paula and Maya

Jordan's zest for life lives on within the souls she touched, lives she changed, love she gave and received. So very sorry for the heartache of not having her physically here, and how so very much she is missed.

There are no words for the hole left in a parent's heart with the loss of a child, Paula. However, her spirit of giving love to animals and her fellow humans remains inspirational. I'm so sorry for you, her dad, your family and friends.

I vividly remember when Paula brought Jordan to work when she was 2 yrs old. I went to her to say hello and Jordan immediately threw her arms around Paula's neck and started screaming, "MY MOMMY! MY MOMMY!!". Their love was so precious. My older kids babysat Paula's kids, then Paula's kids babysat my twins. Jordan always referred to the twins as, "Her boys". Once Jordan claimed you, it was forever. My heartaches everyday for the loss of such a beautiful soul as Jordan. She will be so greatly missed. The Krieger's send all our love to Paula, Bruce and Maya. "First it hurts. Then you find a strength that you didn't know existed within you".

Dear Paula,
I´m so sorry to learn of your loss. Our thoughts and love are with you. I remember meeting Jordan in the UUMC ED many years ago when I was an intern. She was there w you with some injury (I can´t recall) and I had just sustained a significant mtn bike crash. We shared several hours together chatting, joking, and laughing in an unlikely place. I was struck by the closeness and intimacy of your relationship, Jordan´s warmth, smile, and accessibility, and the clear bond the two of you had. That love clearly continues and can´t go away.

Please know we are all here to support you and I hope you feel comfortable reaching out if there is anything that might help.

To Jordan's family, may you find comfort in fond memories and the love and support of family, friends, and those who share your grief.
Heart-felt condolences.
(Our girls attended Miss Barbara's preschool together. Hearing of your loss, I had to express my sympathy - the loss of a child/younger sibling is particularly difficult)
