Jose Camarena, 59, born in the outer skirts of Jesus Maria -a town in the region of Los Altos of Jalisco, Mexico-passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014.
He was largely known for having an entrepreneurial spirit fulfilling a dream of offering authentic taqueria Mexican food just like that of his native country. He named it Taqueria Arandas, named for the closest town of his birthplace, which is now a multi-million restaurant franchise that continues to thrive as a family owned business.
However, his faith and kind spirit offered much more to those who knew him. He once purchased an orphanage in Mexico and donated it to the local nuns. Jose never forgot his humble beginnings and often shared his blessings, each holiday season the priest of his hometown church made a list of families in need. Jose filled large trucks with toys, food and basic necessities to share with indigenous families in surrounding areas.
His spirit of giving was abundant and he was the first to sign up to cook for family and group retreats, sharing his passion of cooking. He was known to be a fair business man and those who worked with him knew that he always recognized hard work. He always looked for the positive in life and in others.
Jose was a devoted husband, married for 42 years to Sylvia whom he consulted on all his affairs. He was also an avid traveler. Traveling the world with Jesus, Jesus Jr, Ricardo, and Daniel Hernandez. They enjoyed experiencing different cultures and seeing as much of the world and creating new adventures.
He loved his three daughters and grandchildren unconditionally and never passed up an opportunity to spend time with family. Jose was the beloved father of Lizbeth Saracho and husband Jonathan Thomas Saracho, Judy Camarena, Gladys Diana Botello and husband Domingo Botello. He was a cherished grandfather of Skylah, Jonathan, Ayden and a fourth grandchild on the way.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.
Private funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Bradshaw Carter Funeral Home. In the essence of Jose's giving spirit, he is asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to someone you personally knew that may be in need.
