Jose Gonzalez Obituary
Mr. Gonzalez was preceded in death by his parents, Zeferino Gonzalez Fragoso and Rosita Barbosa Olguin; brothers, Refugio Gonzalez, Maximilinao Gonzalez, Arnulfo Gonzalez, Reynaldo Gonzalez and Mario Gonzalez; sisters, Odilia Bochas, Natalia Manzano, Dora Medrano, Eustolia Larrasquitu, Lupita Gonzalez and Lucila Gonzalez.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 66 years, Andrea Gonzalez; three sons, Domingo (Virginia) Gonzalez, Benito (Linda) Gonzalez and Fernando (Sylvia) Gonzalez; and a daughter, Celia Hinojosa (Miguel Mejia). Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Gonzalez touched many lives, always giving what he could to those who needed. He loved children and always had a pocketful of gum to share. He was known as "Buelo" to all the children in his neighborhood. He worked hard his entire life as a farmer, carpenter and roofer.
Visitation will be today Sunday, Feb. 19, at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel of the Archangels from 12 noon to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary recited at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Domingo Gonzalez Jr., Ricardo Gonzalez, Jose Martin Gonzalez, Fabian Pereida, Fernando Gonzalez Jr. and Ismael Ochoa.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville, 3955 Jaime J. Zapata Ave., phone (956) 544-1171.

Mr. Gonzalez was a nice man. He always had a good story to share about the old days in Mexico. Our Condolences to the Gonzalez Family.

My deep condolences to all of the Gonzalez family. My mother, Ofelia Gonzalez-Hinojosa was his cousin. I had the pleasure of knowing him and always thought of him and his wife as such nice people. Unfortunately, I heard of his passing after his funeral and did not attend. May he rest in peace. God Bless You All.
