Heartbroken. I loved Joe. Such a wonderful person. Didn't even know he was sick..(we Live in FL)
Lost for words. We bowled together as teenagers at Terrace Gardens. Hung out all the time. Worked together at Kodak. Great Friend. Just heartbroken.

My sincere sympathy to Joe's family. Shocking news. He was the best concrete guy in our area. My driveway bridge over Round Pond Creek now stands in tribute to him, perfectly done eight years ago and still like new. He fell into the creek while checking the work and I can still see him crawling out laughing all the time. He also did excellent work for my fire department and neighbors. Rest easy my friend. You will be missed.

Joe was one of the original gym guys at Samson's Gym. I'll always remember the friendship we all had back in the 80's in the gym with me , Chic, Lou and Joe hitting the weights! I am shocked and saddened to hear that he passed but everyone's thoughts of him are always how genuinely nice he was to you. Miss you my friend, Anthony "David" Finocchiaro

Buddy, you were my best friend growing up on Ridgeway ave. The stories of summers in the 70's go on and on, i dont even know where to begin explaining this profound loss we are all feeling who loved you . I love ya man is all i can say, i wish we could have one more dinner so we could laugh about our crazy childhood. From delivering news papers (i had the evening route, you had the much tougher morning route), to motorcycles, throwing snowballs at cars, bowling at TerraceGardensLanes, to #40 school, the Kodak ball park KPAA, to all our Firsts........I'll never forget my Best friend, Joe Akel.........

My heart is broken and my body is numb as I read Joes obituary. Christine, Joe and Gina I am deeply sorry for your loss as I know what a deep loss this is. Joe was a standup guy who lead by example. We had many heartfelt conversations while he remodeled my office and during his appointments. The world loss a beautiful man.

Joseph was a great role model to myself and my lifelong friend and his brother Edward. He was tough on us but we needed it. His influence and memory are 100% positive in every way he touched my life over the 40 years we knew each other. I can only hope to near as good a family man, friend and peer as Joseph was to all that knew him. God bless you Joe your memory will forever bring a smile to my face.
