Joseph John "Jay" Avoil

JOSEPH JOHN "JAY" AVOIL, 67, of Oroville, California passed away on December 25, 2023. Jay was born on October 20, 1956, in Toms River, New Jersey. He was known to his loved ones as Jay.

Jay was a resourceful, social man who had a passion for music, animals, and nature. He was particularly fond of exotic animals, designing aquatic tanks and reptilian vivariums. Jay cherished moments with his adult children and with his dogs Cokey, Toni, and Peanut.

In his career, Jay worked as a machinist at Lors Machinery and Petro Packaging Plastics. Jay was an exotic animal and aquatic consultant who spent years specializing in servicing and sales of equipment. His expertise and dedication made a lasting impact in his field.

Outside of work, Jay enjoyed hobbies such as dancing, cooking, and aquatic vivarium design. His creativity and love for these activities brought joy to those around him.

Jay is survived by his children, Joshua Avoil of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Ashley Avoil of Chico, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. Avoil and Mary Avoil.

A cremation service will be held for Jay, and his ashes will be kept by his children as a lasting tribute to his memory.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or local animal shelters in honor of Jay's caring spirit and love for both children and animals.

Jay will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the passions he shared.
