Joseph Carl Bogdan

My heart is saddened to see that Dr. Bogdan passed. He was my pediatrician. I am now 54 but I can remember his kindness, smile and bow ties as if it were yesterday. My condolences to Mrs Bogdan and family.

Doctor Bogdan, or as I knew him: Poppop, was one of the greatest grandfathers alive. I have always wanted to become a doctor and my brothers fishermen because of the great influence he has on us as children and still today. Poppop was a funny, gentle and kind-hearted man who took care of every person he possibly could but most importantly his family. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest pediatricians and grandfathers I've ever known. Rest in Peace.

I met Joe about 40 years agothrough a mutual friend.Joe at that time was an avid coin collector.I immediately was captured by his kindness nand laughter.Altough I lived over 150 miles away I took my 9 year old daughter to joe when she was stubbornly ill.Joe was the best at whatever he did.Ilearned of his death today because my 11 month old granddaughter needs his helpand although I hadn't seen him in 30 years he came to me.Joe if you can help I know you will.To his wife Daphne and the rest of his family remember how blessed you were to have loved the man Icalled Bogdan.

I am so incredibly sad to hear about the passing of Dr. Joe. He was a great man. We loved him and his gentle, honest way of caring for both of our children. Any time we saw him, he was always interested and personable. His love for his family was evident in all the pictures he shared at the office. We send our most heartfelt sympathy to his family. We would like to imagine him smiling down on all his "children" with a fishing pole in hand.

Dr. Bogdan was the most gentle wonderful doctor. He was a sincere and kind man. We are all fortunate to have known him...may his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.

Dr. Bogdan was the best Doctor ever. He was a gift to me and my family. He treated his patients as family. My condolences to his family.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Joseph Bogdan. I was "his" Miracle Baby - born October 1969 at JSMC. He cared for this 1 lb. 4 oz. baby and believed he had a fighter from day one. I loved him dearly. Over the years, we kept in touch. He was an awesome doctor given to us on the Jersey Shore. He left an incredible legacy through his practice and teaching. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us.

Dr. Bogdan was my doctor and then my daughter's. He always made us smile and provided wonderful care. We are saddened to learn of his passing and send our condolences to his family. May his memory be eternal.

Dr. Bogdan was our children's beloved pediatrician for many years. When our son, Patrick, was a child , he often said he would become a doctor just like Dr. Bogdan. Many years later, Patrick is a physician who uses some of Dr. Bogdan's kid-friendly techniques when he examines children in the ER.
We are all deeply saddened to learn of this great loss to your family and to the community.

I moved my family to Florida in the late 70's. My
son fell off his bike and went to Children's Variety in South Fla., where I was told he needed an exploratory operation but had to have permission from his Pediiatrian first. We flew back to NJ, where Dr. Bogdan said what ever was going on was no longer a problem right now.He spoke the names of the doctors at the Miami Hospital, that he said he knew personally. Dr. Bogdan said to tell those Doctors that he said if it not broke don't fix it". I THANK GOD FOR HIM AND THE WONDERFUL CARE THAT HE GAVE TO MY CHILDREN,NIECES AND NEPHEWS.. OH WHAT PRECIOUS MEMORIES..

Our deepest condolences to the entire Bogdan family. Dr. Bogdan was an outstanding pediatrician whom was loved by our entire family for many generations. Each family has taken our children to him because he was the most exceptional pediatrician there was. He was so inspiring and loved by so many especially by our children. He was truly a remarkable doctor and will be missed dearly by our family. Dr. Bogdan and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers always. Dr. Bogdan was the best pediatrician ever. My mom had ten kids and he took care of every single one of us. My youngest sister almost passed away and Bogdan saved her life. That day was a miracle. When we all had kids of our own , Dr. Bogdan took care of them too. When our kids had kids, he was also their pediatrician. Whenever we called we always made sure he was the one working that day in the office. He cared for his patients and had the biggest heart and best smile. He was always filled with joy and happiness. Our deepest condolences to the family. He will forever be missed. We all loved him so much. I thank him for taking care of and being there for my entire family of three generations.

Joe & I were classmates at the Prep '56 and the College '60. I can clearly remember his smile and personal warmth. And especially those bow ties! Dr. Joe surely completed his Jesuit mission being a "Man for Others". My condolences and prayers to family and friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was a nurse on Pediatrics for 25 years and not only was he a great physician, but he was just a great person and treated the nurses with respect and taught us a lot too. He will be missed by many. He touched a lot of peoples lives over the years.

Thank you for being an amazing Doctor. You cared for my, now grown children with patience, love and excellent medical care. Prayers for your family.

I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Bogdan's passing away. All my sympathy and love to all the family. He was truly the most wonderful Doctor my son Bill ever had. I will never forget the 18+ years of health care he provided for my only son. I remember showing up at his office before it even opened when my son was sick and there was never a problem, he took us right in. We truly loved him and his devotion to his family and "extended" family. I know how much he will be missed.

So sad to hear that Dr. Bogdan has passed. He was a great person and great doctor. The kids never minded going for their checkups. He always had a nice smile on his face. R.I.P. Doc, you will be missed.

Our Deepest Condolences to the Bogdan Family. He was my pediatrician as a child. He was such a caring and compassionate person. He always had a smile on his face. What a great man! Not only was he my doctor, but a doctor to my other four siblings. He surely will be missed. However, he is now taking care of all of the children in heaven!

He was loved by so many people that I don't think there will be room to accommodate all the condolences that will be received. He was the beloved pediatrian for my children. He had the way with children! His passing is so so sad to me. I give my heartfelt condolences to his family! Once again he was a very loved person, he will be missed by many!

Doctor B was also a great underwater photographer. On one of our tuna trips he jumped into the water with camera in hand and started taking pictures of the tuna as we brought them up from the deep. After taking dozens of pictures back into the boat he comes only to find out there is no film on the camera. What a laugh we had. I'm going to miss you Doc.

Dear Mrs. Bogdan, Skip, Doreen, Trixie and Family, What a wonderful obituary for a man who raised exceptionally nice children. I want to express my deepest condolences to you all.
When I was 3 1/2 years old, I was pushed off my front porch and suffered 3 subdural hematoma's. My mother brought me to your father's office. The nurse at the desk went and grabbed Dr Bogdan. He came out took one look at me, looked at my mother and said," Fitkin Now".
If it wasn't for Dr. Bogdan's quick thinking to get me to the Emergency Room immediately, I probably wouldn't be alive today. His office made the call to the Emergency Room and the staff was ready and waiting for me.
I have been and will always be forever grateful to Dr. Bogdan for that day.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bogdan family.i met Dr Bogdan when he was taking care of a small child in the hospital in the room next to our 3 month old daughters room. I could hear him talk so gently to the child and also tell the parents she would be ok. Several months later I met him again at Dr D'Spiritos office, he was joining the practice. Dr D told me he took him in be cause he now felt he and his family could go on vacation and his children would be in good hands. This all happened 49 years a go. Our 3 children,n and 7 grandchildren have all been in Dr Bogdans care. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Karen Goodwin

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bogdan family at this time. He was wonderful Dr and friend to a all his patients and their families. I first met Dr B when he was finishing his residence. Our 3. Month old daughter was in the hospital And he was taking care of a small child in the next room. I could hear how gentle he was with the little girl and reassuring to the parents. Several months later I met him, he was joining Dr D'Spirito . Dr D said he was taking him on cause he could count on him to take care of his patients like he would himself, he was right. Sincere sympathy to the Bogdan family on the loss of a gentleman and a compassionate healer. He was one of a kind. Dr Bogdan was one of the best doctors ever. He always had a smile and kind words for everyone he encountered. I loved to see him in the halls of Jersey Shore and I always felt confident because he made my worries disappear, whether it was caring for my child's sore throat or when he treated my son's Lyme encephalitis. I adored his style of practicing medicine and will think of him and smile as I walk those halls today. God bless you Joe Bogdan and I know you have a special place in heaven reserved for you.

We have lost a great colleague,pediatrician, and friend. Our 20 year old daughter still refers to you with endearment as Dr. "Bowtie"

i met Dr Bogdan 23 years ago when I became A police Officer in Belmar. We both had a great passion towards fishing and whenever we ran into each other we talked about fishing. When my son was born there was no question who our Dr would be. Our family is truly going to miss such a loving and caring person.
