I met Joe in 1970 at our workplace. He was outrageous & funny & wore T-shirts & jeans despite the dress code. Since he was the only one who could run the printing machine, he had job security. We often went to his house a few blocks away for lunch. The only thing he knew how to "cook" was tuna fish sandwiches with just mayonnaise. So this was way before he became chef extraordinaire. He told me his mom could only make jello & she would heat it for soup then put the leftover in the fridge, & heat it again for the next meal. I stayed at the hospital with him when he had a terrible motorcycle accident. I have so many wonderful memories & I have always adored him as a best friend. I am sure others feel the same way. There will never be another Joe. God bless all of you who mourn him as I do.

Joe and Karen Cahn were instrumental in helping me open the Santa Fe School of Cooking. My husband and I spent a weekend back in 1989 asking any question we could think of and I am forever grateful. Just last summer, Joe visited Santa Fe and was able to see how the school is still thriving with his philosophy after 29 years. He seemed so pleased that it was doing so well. I am so thankful that he was able to visit.

Hi Everyone,
Anyone who knew Joe had to have a great sense of humor.
I truly admired Joseph for his entrepreneurial instincts, and his desire to be the most successful guy he could be. A bit of a "Dream Chaser".
I was a little bit younger than Joe, but went to high school with Joe and his fabulous talented little sister Sue. Yes, Warren Easton.
Hey, no pun intended, Joe had a good ride!
