My sincerest condolences to Theresa and his children. I have many fond memories of Joe that go back over fifty years when I was stationed at Holy Name parish as a newly ordained and Joe was a young father with a great family. He was very faithful to St Joseph as well as Grafton Hill and the Senior Center and his card playing friends. He was very good business man. I learnt a great deal from him although he could be tough. May he rest in peace.

JoeJoe was a good boss and loved fun bus trips to the Casinos and was the most successful Mass lottery dealer in Worcester in 1986 when I worked for him and the boys . His legacy is huge and a void is left. His promotion finally came.

Im so sorry about the loss of such a wonderful man. I remember my mother taking us to the shoe store when we were little maybe 55 years ago and meeting Joseph. I remember going there for many years and was always greeted with a smile and the shoes were done so well.
My mom always talked about how fair he was and how he was a man of great faith.
She passed in January at 102 years old.
God bless him and his family.

Living on Chrome St. from 1950-1972 my father and mother knew Joe and his Dad personally from the neighborhood. My mother went to school from Grafton St. elementary school until they graduated from Commerce high together. My Dad and Mother knew Joe sr. and Joe from the days of the old store and buying shoes for six kids a couple times a year for over 30yrs. I am 70yrs.+ and remember him very well. He knew us all and everyone else by our first names. He and his Dad were legends of generosity in the Grafton Hill. I send my deepest sorrow and prays to the entire Carbonneau family. Joe will REST IN PEACE.

the required annual visit to Carbonneaus' always signaled the end of summer to the Lawless Family, both Joe sr and Jr always treated the people of Grafton Hill like family.........not sure if the shoes made us happier or if it was the StateLine chips that were guaranteed to imprint the memory of our visits........another Hiller legend is no more........

It has been a long while since "Shorty " and I spoke. I graduated Commerce High with him, he is 91 not 81. For many years my Dad had the clothing store next to the old shoe store. My prayers are with him and his family at this time
