Joe came to my first birthday party and we became lifelong friends. We did everything together. We learned skiing, scuba diving, working on model planes, even built a car wash together. He was the brother I never had. I will always remember that big grin on his face when he would knock on my door, with a new idea that included us doing something new. I will truly miss my friend. I first meet Joe when I was his co-pilot on a UAL 727. I was flying the approach in bad weather. We were at minimums when he said "runway ln sight, you CAN'T make it". I closed the throttles and landed. After the people got off, Joe told me that I scared him when I closed the throttles. He said that is what he would have done, but didn't know if I could. We were great friends from then on.
We flew many different aircraft together from the Aeronca to airliners.
Joe taught me a lot and I will miss him greatly!!!

I will remember his big laughter, his generosity, his gentleness, and his endless sense of adventure. My only regret is that we weren't able to put him onto a real train locomotive to ride with the engineers.
